A Day in the Life of a St. Sophia Kindergartener

At SSCA our day begins and ends with prayer. Students meet together for the morning meeting, learn a Christian virtue, hear announcements, say their morning prayers and recite the Nicene Creed. Our kindergarteners then move to their classrooms to begin their day.

Once in the classroom our students begin with calendar time, and quickly move to their first phonics lesson while they are still fresh. St. Sophia has a thorough, rigorous, and systematic classical phonics program that prepares students to excel in reading and writing. Our kindergarteners then work on their math lessons. Seated work is broken up through out the day with breaks, and changing subjects to keep students engaged.

After recess our afternoons are a fun learning time when kindergarteners move on to enrichment time. Enrichment is a combination of history, geography, art and science and is a favorite among our primary grade students.
